Studio MVTH&V developed an ongoing body of work called The Man Made History of Today. In their Colombian version of this work, they created a vast amount of artworks, one of them a two channel film installation. They centred in on the question: how can we determine whether an artwork is dead or alive?
Through their collaboration with Sylvia Suarez (art historian, curator) five avant-garde Colombian female artists where brought to our attention; Cecillia Porras, Beatriz Daza, Feliza Bursztyn, Clemencia Lucena and Maria Teresa Hinca-pié, each of whose lives and artistic careers ended tragically early.
As the perfect case study material for us to experiment with in our ‘self-made ideology’ (The Man-made History of Today) these women awakened our desire to create an ‘immortal utopian’ habitation for their reac- tivated forms and ‘semi-personas’ to exist forever. We don’t believe in death. — studio MVTH&V 2023
